What is the difference between Supervised Fieldwork and Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork?
Supervised Fieldwork requires 2,000 total hours and at least 5% supervision per supervisory period. Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork requires 1,500 total hours and at least 7.5% supervision per supervisory period.
How many fieldwork hours can I count during one supervisory period?
Candidates must accrue at least 20 hours and no more than 160 hours during a supervisory period.
Who can supervise BCBA fieldwork hours?
A supervisor must be an active BCBA with no current disciplinary sanctions. The supervisor must either have been certified for at least one year and meet ongoing supervision CEU requirements, or, if certified for less than one year, receive monthly consultation from a qualified consulting supervisor.
How much supervision do I need each month or supervisory period?
For Supervised Fieldwork, supervision must equal at least 5% of the hours accrued during the supervisory period. For Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork, supervision must equal at least 7.5% of the hours accrued during the supervisory period.
Are client observations required?
Yes. For Supervised Fieldwork, candidates need at least 60 cumulative minutes of observation with a client during the supervisory period. For Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork, candidates need at least 90 cumulative minutes.
Can all supervision be done in a group?
No. At least 50% of supervised hours must be individual supervision. Group supervision may not exceed 50% of the total supervised hours.
What are unrestricted activities?
Unrestricted activities are activities that help a trainee develop BCBA-level skills. These may include assessment, data analysis, treatment planning, caregiver training, staff training, behavior plan development, literature review, supervision-related activities, and clinical decision-making.
How many unrestricted hours do I need?
At least 60% of total supervised fieldwork hours must be spent in unrestricted activities.
Does direct therapy count toward BCBA fieldwork hours?
Direct therapy may count when it meets BACB fieldwork requirements and is supervised appropriately. However, candidates must also make sure they are building enough unrestricted hours to meet the 60% requirement.
Can RBT work count toward BCBA fieldwork?
Some RBT work may count, but not every hour worked as an RBT automatically qualifies. The activity must be behavior analytic, meet BACB requirements, and be approved by the supervisor.
Can I have more than one supervisor?
